Tuesday used to be the day I would go to work as a secretary somewhere other than our resort. Now I am home being a secretary here and trying to get my 3 books I wrote published. We'll see what happens but working outside of the home was too much, especially with taking care of John's parents on and off during the year.
Now that John's dad is in hospice care, everything in that family arena is going to change. I hope John's mom will be okay. She is such a sweet, fun and nice person. I want her to know she can move in here in the winter especially, and John and I have encouraged her to do so, but she will not even think about that. She says that she will be a burden then. We don't agree at all. Hopefully she will be here at least part of this winter, if not all.
We have a 3 bedroom home and plenty of space. Relatives and friends can come just about any time of the year and we would probably have somewhere for them to sleep. When you own a vacation place, a lot of friends visit. We enjoy it. This week though we don't have anyone scheduled in our guest room. So with John gone by his parents, I don't have to cook. So for dinner tonight I ate cereal.
Earlier today I swept and cleaned the lodge. I fed the dogs and put them outside. Then I walked up to the recycling dumpster to make sure everything was okay for the pick up that was supposed to happen today. When he did arrive, he got out of the truck and had to wait for a customer to move their car. When that was done, he backed up the huge garbage truck and then got out to talk to me. He was asking me a lot of questions about myself, which led me to think he was hitting on me. I found it amusing but didn't offer him much information. It took about 5 minutes to get the guy to stop talking enough so I could fake an exit. He was nice enough, but I don't like a lot of personal questions.
Later in the day I made a few runs up to the dumpster to put garbage into it. The anti-bear device John developed for the dumpster has been working great but I have to remove it to put the garbage in. Hopefully there aren't any garbage bags on top of the dumpster later than 8:00 p.m. because that was the last time I checked.
I was down on the beach for awhile today and talked with some customers. Later some came in the lodge to watch the Brewer game. I spoke to a customer who had been to Ireland and Scotland this spring. His stories of the sites he saw made me want to go there some day.
Now I will go and see if there are northern lights. There's supposed to be a lot of activity in the next few days. This is according to a former customer who called me today to tell me to watch. Thanks! I will!
