There was a garbage truck coming somethime in the morning so I went up immediately and took off the anti-bear device. I checked the fish cleaning house and, thankfully, there wasn't any fish guts this week.
I did a lot of laundry today in preparation of the weekend. Now, finally, there's not a pile in front of the washer. It took 5 loads. Now the cleaning rags, throw rugs, bathroom rugs, kitchen cloths and personal stuff is all clean. I hung up the laundry but with all the humidity, it will take days to dry. It sure was nice to hang out in the basement for awhile though. Whenever I would walk up the stairs, I would gasp at the humidity.
I hung out on the beach for most of the day floating on a tube or sitting on the shore on floaties. So did most of the people at our resort.
John arrived around 5:30 p.m. from his mom's house. He worked a lot of hours for days making everything ready for his dad's memorial this Sunday. My brother/wife/kids will be watching the resort for us on Sat. night/Sunday. Thanks, guys - it is much appreciated. I think it is very important for me to go to the memorial.
Almost right after John arrived I had to go to Lioness Bingo. I had to call the numbers: can you say, N-34? That number wouldn't light up so I always had to wait a little longer after calling it. But it went well - no complaints about too fast or too slow. We finished at the usual time. I think being a member of the Lioness is important in a small town.
During Bingo's intermission I looked through the mound of books behind my chair on the stage. The library had a book sale last week and the left overs were piled about 4 feet high and 20 feet long. I took home a box full and will call the librarian tomorrow to ask how much I need to pay.
When I got home, it was 9:45 p.m. and it was so humid outside that the fog had to be wiped off the windshield with the wipers. John was relaxing in the house as no one needed him in the lodge. It was nice to be able to catch up with him for an hour when no one came into the lodge. Not promoting our bar business has been great for our personal lives. We wouldn't like having a busy bar every night, that's for sure. We make our money on renting the cabins, not the bar. So thankfully, we enjoy our lives more that way. Some people may like their bar being busy and that's where they make their money, but we are happy the way ours is run.
Tomorrow there is a hike planned and we will see who gets to go and who will stay.
