Rain, rain go away, come again another day. The picture is of the rain dropping on the water. John thought it was a pretty pic.
I helped John with a pier today. He got his wrenches, I backed up the Toyota to the area and hooked up the pier to the hitch. I sat on the end by the shore to hold it down or counter balance it while John worked on pulling up the supports on the end. If he pulled up a support and it started to roll out, I had it secured to the Toyota. If he pulled up a pole and fell in, I would laugh. He was prepared.
He pulled up the first two end poles and all was well. I carried the slimy poles to the shore and loaded them in one place. Buddy had finally made it down to be by us, in his limpy way. He was now sleeping up on the shore and had opened one eye while I put the pipe down.
The fishermen who are staying in the Ironwood II cabin loaded into their fishing boats down by the beach. They had their cigars, beers and lunches in hand and offered their help. But we didn't need their help so we sent them on their merry way. One of the guys had caught a 37 inch musky the day before and he was ecstatic. He was going to have a trump story over all the other fishermen. That is until someone caught one bigger anyway.
I needed more weight on my end of the pier to hold it while John removed the middle two poles. These are the poles right by the wheels and this is the time it will more than likely roll out. If I have a lot of weight on my end of the pier, it will have a better chance of staying put. So I got a rock and called Senna, our Golden Retriever. She came and sat by me and tried to get the rock. I kept teasing her with it and soon enough she got frustrated and started barking. So I had to let her go. I threw the rock and she must have been the happiest dog in the world at that minute. She got the rock and went up onto the shore to hold it in her mouth and watch us for awhile. Some help she was.
John couldn't get the last pole out so we called it a day. I went into the house and started working on my writing assignment for the writer's group. Below are the poems I did in about two hour's time. Just so you know, these were done in a hurry. So they are not the best poems I could do, obviously, but hopefully you will enjoy them. I went to my writer's group at 6:00 p.m., after I made some chocolate chunk cookies. I didn't get back until around 10 p.m. so that was our good day.

Fall Season by the Lake
Damp, musty, and thick air.
Smell the decay of flora in the mist.
Rain was recent and it dampened all.
Sticks, pine needles and stones are wet.
Dirt is now mud, slick and dirty.
My hands touch and I hold the earth.
Fingers are now stained brown.
Leaves are long ago off the trees.
We await the cold of snow.
But for now all is humid and warm.
Clouds thicken the skies.
gray, blue, white and dark at times.
Mist on my hair and shoulders.
No sound in the air or ground except for a drip and drop.
Feel the water soak to your knees as you sink to the earth.
Wet, asleep, waiting for spring and the wait will be long.
Feel the stillness of the water.
Touch its glassy surface.
Make a ripple that travels outward.
Do fish slumber in the cold depths?
Do bears find their winter homes?
Do eagles fear the coming of ice covered lakes?
Taste the freshness of the rain.
Smell and anticipate the end of the season.

No Pain Like a Mother’s (all lines start with a 'wh')
When I look at you, I see you when you were two.
Whoever took that little boy from me, I want to sue.
What happened to the sweet, innocent fun?
Why did his common sense turn out so dumb?
Whack my head against the wall.
Who would have thought you’d see a jail wall?
Where did all the love I gave you go?
"Whatever" you say when I told you so.
Wet blanket you threw on my hopes and dreams.
Whacked them all dead with your bad scenes.
Whatsoever power I had to influence is gone.
Wheedle your way out of trouble is wrong.
Whelp no longer are you but a man.
Whenever you grow up, then I’ll give you a hand.
Good-bye Furry Friend (lines start with 'I' then 'You' then 'We')
I got you when you were under a year.
I had a cat and you never bit it I swear.
I remember coming home to a sofa in bits.
I yelled, you shrank down and I felt like shit.
I knew from that day on you had my heart.
I look back now on all the years with a start.
I wonder how 13 years can go so fast.
I know the end though has come at last.
You limp and cry and poop in the house.
You still are so gentle you wouldn’t hurt a mouse.
You guarded me and my children for years.
You miss them now that they’ve grown I fear.
You buried the bones I gave you for treats.
You swam out to save me which was no little feat.
You and I were a team and I hate to decide it.
You are in pain and no longer can hide it.
We went for all those daily walks in the sun.
We played with toys and had lots of fun.
We rode for miles in my Jeep with you at my side.
We got lots of smiles as we went for those rides.
We had fun with the kids at the resort and home.
We never had to worry that you would roam.
We have to say good bye for now.
We will see each other again somehow.
