The picture is of our dog, Buddy. He is still limping around. Poor old dog. He's 13.5 now - maybe he'll reach 14 in February.
John got the raft out today finally. He needed some help so our friend, Don, helped him while I worked in the house on lunch and various other things.
My son came to visit today so we spent the afternoon together. I really enjoyed his company. He brought me a Packer's jersey for my birthday present - Matthews. I can't wait to wear it. Maybe it will bring them luck.
We went to the library to pick out a couple movies and said hello to Renie the librarian. She's fun and always very helpful. She makes the library a great place to go to.
I visited with some customers, sold some beers, visited with them some more and heard their fishing stories. They caught a northern and a small musky today, as well as some pan fish. Now they are still in the bar arguing with each other about the rules of their own private fishing contest. John is bar tending. One of the customers showed us some pictures of his trapping hobby. He showed a pic of a 55 pound beaver that he trapped for its fur. He said that there are way too many beaver right now because the furs are not selling. John can attest to the amount of beaver in our area because of all the rivers/creeks he's had to portage over beaver dams in the last year.
The weather was great today and I sat outside a lot with my son. We turned off the Ironwood cabin since those customers left, then got more dish soap and garbage bags for Lynn and Bob of the Alder cabin.
My son, Joey, told me a funny story. He said that when he was in his deer stand hunting, a chipmunk came up to him, looked at him and then jumped onto the branch over his head. My son was looking up at it when it peed on him. He was totally disgusted. I would be too. Usually they are friendly critters - at least to me anyway. Maybe they were getting back at him for causing me so much stress lately.
Now when I look out at the lake and see that the raft is gone, I think it looks very empty. The swimming season is definitely over.
The lake "turned" recently so the water is very murky, when usually it is very clear. Turning happens when the surface water gets colder than the water under it. The surface water then turns to go lower and the warmer water that was under becomes the surface water. This happens when the nights get very cold. The fishermen weren't too happy about this but then when they caught fish, it was all good.
Our lagoon is now a yellowish soup. This is from all the pollen that was stirred up with the turning of the lake. The pollen is not usually this bad in our lagoon until around July 4th week only. Because the water just turned, it was stirred up again. Its funny how nature works. Our leaves are also off of almost every tree now. The tamaracks are beautiful still and its amazing how quiet the woods are when there are no leaves to stir in the wind.
While the guys party and watch football in the lodge, I will go to bed early. Hopefully I can get in some sewing in the morning before I'm called into action of some sort.
It was a good day today.
