The picture is of my daughter, my mom and me. We were out on 9/19 for my daughter's birthday.
Denny and I went to the cranberry marshes and the gift shop today. We met my daughter, Danielle, on the way. She had been visiting with my sister but now she is visiting with me, yeah! We bought some cranberry mustard, soap, wine, chocolate covered cranberries, cranberry salsa and the list goes on.
When I tried to start my car, it barely started. It sounded like the battery was low. So when we went to the art gallery for a look, I left the car running.
This weekend is the annual Art Tour. There is one in July and one in October. It is a self-guided tour through the back roads of the northwoods to the studios and galleries of area artists. We stopped at Odonata yesterday and today we went to the Woodsholm Gallery and the Your Art Studio. We bought some cards and had fun entering to win door prizes. We talked to the artists and enjoyed looking around the galleries.
I think this was right up Denny's alley. She loves artwork and talking with people. She also loves looking at beautiful things and unique homes. The Your Art Studio building was made of cord log construction and built by a woman, Frances Whitfield. She is amazing. I have known her since high school and she is unstoppable when she sets her mind to anything. Her studio is in her former home. She lives somewhere else now and her unique home is now the setting of art work. That is so appropriate. There are art classes, writing classes, craft classes and more there. Our town needed something like this and she knew it. I go there for my once a month writing group too.
When we got home, we took the dogs for a little walk. Then we just hung out and talked for awhile. I made a nice dinner and then we watched television. There's always football on this time of year but John let us watch a movie. It turned out to be a terrible B rated movie and a waste of time, but it was fun to spend that time with Danielle and Denny. John fell asleep on the sofa. He didn't miss a good movie, but he did miss a lot of talking and laughter.
I forgot to mention that on Thursday I picked up some customers up river at a boat landing. They kayaked from our resort up stream to the Oxbow Lake. On the way there to pick them up, our kayak trailer fell apart and I didn't notice until I got to the landing. One of the customers asked me where the back rack was for the kayaks. I stared at the trailer in disbelief. The back half was missing. We were still able to attach the kayaks to the rack because the base was still there, but the upper cross bar and beam was gone. On the way back from the boat landing I drove slowly and found it leaning up against a tree on our Pine Forest Road. Some people were walking so they must have picked it up.
I knew the people and they live just down the road from us. They are from Denmark and have an accent still even though they've lived in the states for over 20 years. But they are wonderful people and it was very nice of them to pick up the metal off the road for others' safety. It was laying in a spot where I had just passed a mini-Cooper car. If it had fallen off earlier by maybe 30 seconds, it would have hit that little car. I shiver to think what could have happened. Thank you, God for not letting anything bad happen.
It was a good day.
